Adapted Walking Frame for Disabled Pupil

Sonny McManus is a delightful, happy 6 year old boy who attends Seaford Primary School. Sadly, when he was two, he was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) which is a muscle-wasting condition and, as a result, he has to use an electric wheelchair.
Part of the therapy to build up his muscles involves him having to stand with the help of a walking frame for periods of time during the day, but he cannot stand for long, so he really needed a seat fitted to the frame. Seaford Primary School approached us to see whether we could help with this, and we agreed to pay for a seat to be fitted to the frame and also for new grips to make it more comfortable for Sonny to hold.
Sonny is a keen Brighton and Hove Albion supporter and, through a scheme set up by Brighton & Hove Albion, is planning to start wheelchair football at Angmering soon. He is a a very positive lad, and it was a great pleasure to meet him and his family to see how he was getting on with his modified walking frame.
