July Boot, Craft and Produce Fair

THE sky of the morning of 9th July was a lovely pale unbroken blue with no sign of any clouds when the first of the sellers arrived to set up their stalls. The sun continued to shine all morning and as a result the fair attracted a large number of sellers and a corresponding size of crowd seeking a bargain.
As usual on these occasions, there was the normal offerings of plants, clothes, books, jigsaw puzzles, crockery, costume jewellery, and toys, but there were also some more unexpected, unusual and large items.
These included a fur covered rocking horse complete with mane and tail, a pair of amplifiers, a couple of life jackets, a stationary exercise bicycle, as well as a dolls house, alabaster telephones and a pair of alabaster mushrooms (not sure of their function), a coffee grinder and expresso maker, a bed headboard and a set of golf clubs complete with covers for the woods and the golf bag.
There were also, although it was the second weekend in July, several Christmas items for sale.
In all there were 45 stall holders in addition to stalls manned by Seaford Inner Wheel and Seaford Rotary Club. All the items for sale at the Rotary stall were again conveyed to Martello Fields using the ‘green’ electric truck.
We are grateful to the public who generously provided a significant contribution to funds in our donation buckets at the event. Together with the pitch fees (still at only £8 for a large pitch), our takings from our own Rotary Club stall we raised over £600 which will be put to good use for worthy causes.
