Young Artist's Competition Prize Presentations

Seaford Rotary Club’s second competition to find the Seaford Young Artists of the Year has now been completed and prizes presented.
Overall the entry was similar to the pilot run by the Club last year, but it was disappointing there were no entries this year for either the 11 to 13 or 14 to 18 years age groups. The entrants in the Under 7’s and 7 to 10’s categories, however, more than made up for that disappointment, and the judges from Seaford Art Club had a difficult task in choosing the winners.
All entrants were asked to produce a drawing or painting with the title “My Favourite Thing.” This offered the possibility of a wide range of ideas and the competitors did not disappoint with entries ranging from pigs to my piggy bank, from teddies to dinosaurs, from tennis to the Amex Stadium, and not forgetting “my teacher because she makes me laugh.”
All the winners came from Cradle Hill Primary School and Seaford Primary School and prizes were presented at the two schools by Rotary President Bill Pierce.
First place in the 7 to 10 years age group went to Nicco Eastwood from Cradle Hill Community Primary School with Madeline Morris, also from the same school in second place.
Third and fourth in the group were Samuel Elton and Rida Muhamed Rosalie, both from Seaford Primary School.
Seaford Primary took the honours in the Under 7 group with Maxwell Terry winning first prize and Thomas Elton the runner up.
Club President Bill Pierce congratulated all the competitors on giving the judges such a difficult task and thanked the Seaford Art Club for the support they give to this competition. It is hoped the winning pictures will be included in one of the regular displays of the work of the Art Club members at the Seaford Head Golf Club.
