August Boot, Craft and Produce Fair![]() This weather did not however deter many stall holders with nearly 50 setting up to sell their wares. They were joined by a new refreshment stall holder in addition to the Barista coffee van. The rain stopped by the time that the public arrived at the Martello fields and although the mist returned to obscure the view of Seaford Head, the weather remained warm and a good size crowd came to explore the offerings from the various stallholders. It may be that the size of the crowd viewing the stalls was enhanced by the Fun Day at the adjacent Martello Tower at which free access to the museum was on offer. The Rotary stall appeared to be very popular with the tables deflecting under the weight of the goods on display having to be restocked from the reserve stores. Goods on offer on various stalls included a complete drum kit, a large framed mirror, a wooden childs high chair with a tray, wooden chairs, as well as items more commonly found at a Boot, Craft & Produce Fair such as clothes, plants, jams and other preserves, garden tools, books, childrens toys and collectables. Despite the unfriendly August weather, the Fair was considered a success with a total of approximately £625 being raised towards funds to be used for local charities. This sum included nearly £140 collected in the donation buckets from members of the public. posted: Sunday, 7 August 2016 |
