Young artists presentations

FOLLOWING the successful competitions for Young Musicians, Young Photographers, and Young Writers the last competition in this Rotary year for Young Artists has now been completed.
Competitors were required to prepare a painting, drawing, or collage which explored an example of ‘Life Around Us’.
Representatives from Seaford Art Club judged over 30 entries in four age groups of under 7, 7 to 10, 11 to 13, and 14 to 18 and commented on the high standard and the thought and imagination which had gone into many of the entries. The judges took the degree of creativity and originality, the quality of execution, the way the task was represented, and the overall impression of the work in reaching their decisions.
The number of prizes awarded for each group reflected the different number of entries between the groups.
The winner of the Under 7 age group was Callum Terry with 5-year-old brother Maxwell highly commended. Both Callum and Maxwell attend Seaford Primary School as does Rida Muhamed Rosalie, the winner of the 7 to 10 years section. The runners up in this group are all pupils at Annecy Primary School.
All the other prize winners attend Seaford Head School with Holly Harman taking first place in the 11 to 13 group with Lily Harman and Freya Whitelaw runners up.
Libby Furminger took top honours in the 14 to 18 group.
Prizes were presented by Rotary Club President Peter Fenwick who thanked the Seaford Art Club for all their help in staging this competition for the first time, the Seaford Library for allowing the Club to use their facilities both to collect entries and award the prizes, but most of all the young people who had taken part. He hoped that they had enjoyed the opportunity to enter this competition and that it had helped to further their interest in this medium.
